That way, if we want to jump on and try our luck with some randoms, it's just a button click away, just like the Strikes. It makes no sense to force players to go via a 3rd party. But the fact that those 3rd party sites exist, and so many people use them, shows that people are happy to do the events with randoms. So why not just put matchmaking on all events in the game, and save us the trouble? I would not want it to auto-fill my party if someone drops. But I want an option, to fill my group automatically if I happen to be on my own, or I need 1 or 2 more for my raid. Just join the lfg, and it auto-matches you with other people who have similar gear level and experience to you, if possible. Just like strikes do now.

The release of Destiny 2: Forsaken will bring about some key changes to matchmaking — including Guided Games — as well as a shakeup to the clan rewards structure. Bungie has revealed a couple of decent upgrades the matchmaking and Guided Games experience in Destiny 2 will be getting with Forsaken. There are some exceptions to this, like lopsided PvP matches, or ones that ended with a mercy rule. In both cases, teams will be scrambled as they currently do.
